BitBoy Crypto’s Prediction: XRP Set to Surpass ETH by 2025 – Insights Revealed
In the crypto world, there is speculation that Ripple’s XRP could potentially surpass Ethereum (ETH) in market capitalization by the year 2025. This forecast comes from Ben Armstrong, also known as BitBoy Crypto, a prominent figure in the cryptocurrency space.
BitBoy Crypto pointed out the impressive performance of XRP back in 2018 when it briefly held the second position on CoinMarketCap, outstripping ETH, which came in third at that time in terms of market size.
“XRP already exceeded ETH once before, back on January 8, 2018, during the final phase of the altcoin season, just a fortnight after Bitcoin hit its peak.”
During that period, XRP’s market size stood at $130 billion, eclipsing ETH’s $111 billion. The prediction suggests a possible repeat scenario in 2025 as the crypto market anticipates the culmination of the current Bitcoin cycle by then.
“XRP managed to flip Ethereum in 2018, and it’s poised to occur again in 2025. Brace yourself for the next bullish trend. The XRP community is well aware of what’s on the horizon.”
Is XRP Poised to Overtake ETH?
According to Armstrong, ETH might encounter hurdles surpassing the psychological barrier of a $1 trillion market capitalization due to intense competition in the layer 1 solutions space.
Based on his assessment, ETH could potentially triple in value but could struggle around the $940 billion mark. Conversely, BitBoy speculated on XRP’s potential for a twentyfold increase from its current levels, reaching a market cap of $600 billion, which would translate its price to $11.
“With a twentyfold jump, XRP could be priced at $11. For ETH to be dethroned by XRP, it would make sense for ETH to peak before XRP and witness a decline while XRP ascends to the top.”
He noted that in order for the flipping to take place, XRP would likely need to see a 25x-30x increase, pushing the price of XRP to a range of $13 to $15.6 compared to its current value of $0.52.
However, BitBoy highlighted the Ripple Labs lawsuit as a significant barrier to XRP’s price surge. He speculated that XRP could have surpassed ETH in 2021 if not for the ongoing legal battle.
Reviewing the price chart for the XRP/ETH ratio, which measures XRP’s performance relative to ETH, it somewhat reinforced his viewpoint. As the lawsuit dragged on, ETH outperformed XRP at the beginning of 2024.
Nonetheless, a partial win against the SEC in the latter half of 2024 appeared to tilt the balance in favor of XRP, leading to a temporary outperformance over ETH.
During the period between May and August, XRP surged 86% against ETH, marking a notable performance against the leading altcoin. The continuation of this rally towards the next target at 0.0003 remains uncertain.
Despite these developments, XRP was hovering around $0.50 at the time of writing, facing potential challenges in the short term due to the ongoing legal proceedings.
